One reason for this could be medications you are taking are causing you to retain water. Actually drinking more water will assure that you are getting enough fluids. Having enough fluid intake -- at least eight 8 oz. glasses per day -- will help boost your metabolism and prevent water retention.

Once you find out what is causing your weight gain or stalled weight loss, you should start to lose weight steadily. Keep in mind you should only try to lose between 1and 2 lbs. per week, this promotes a healthy and gradual weight loss. Set realistic goals for yourself, even if you are faced with a condition that may slow down your weight loss. A healthy lifestyle rather than a diet will help you learn how to lose weight effectively and keep it off.
